Would you be annoyed
by a scene lift?
I’d control it;
your comma’s impatient.
I ripped your corduroy,
but I don’t wanna date it,
it’s better in a lazy void,
can’t decide
to take you off my shoulders…
It paralysed,
in an even layer over,
have I come far? It’s taken me under,
and I swear I didn’t notice I was
westernised.
It’s mad, the hum…
I’m at the summit.
Could you be destroyed?
Should your speed shift?
You chose the colours,
but I’m honoured to have weighed in.
Am I in your joy, had I hit your ceiling?
I’m an ogre, but I’m running it close.
Do I really have to resit
if I think that I can cheat it?
If I don’t show face, the numbers know...
Is it arrogant to leave it?
If I blinked it wasn’t real.
Hint: I wish I’d stayed Canadian,
when the four of us were moonlit,
it was pinker than I’d seen it,
our oil glowed, rained - radiant.
Cut it at the join,
did you see rifts?
It's my layover,
and I don't wanna waste it.
This is thoughtful and melancholy, but not morose -- there is hope in its sheer beauty. Her sensitivity as an arranger and producer is as impressive as her songwriting and singing; the whole album has a lovely sense of texture and space. Joe Madden
Terry Venemous is releasing new music every 3 weeks this year. His latest EP is sumptuous art pop with a wry sense of detachment.
